A while back in the summer of 2015, I went to a cooking camp at Sur La Table in King of Prussia. I made THE BEST whoopie pies EVER! Below are some pictures of my second time making whoopie pies and some other people made some classic twists on the regular whoopie pie.
S'mores are a classic dessert that has been around for a long time. I found this idea a while back and thought what a great twist on an amazing dessert.
Ingredients: flavor of ice cream, a big spoon, a cup of milk, and a cup or bowl.
Preparation: First, put at least 3 scoops of ice cream into your cup or bowl. Next, pour a cup of milk in or as much as you need for it to be soggy enough. Then, stir it all together with your big spoon. Lastly, sip and enjoy! Monday is the day that we all dread and wish it would never come. I came across this quote a few days ago that said "Why is Friday so close to Monday, but Monday so far away from Friday?" In this perspective, I dread this day even more. Today although wasn't too horrible. It's like this whole week is going to be deja vu. I like that in a way, but today a headache struck me mid-afternoon. As the pounding continues, I put on the news and notice tomorrow is not going to get too much snow! Why does Monday have to be so depressing? I think that everyone from the age range 4-16 wants a snow day tomorrow! The last time we got snow, I was off 2 whole days! Having this mindset will probably soon disappoint later on Tuesday morning.
The Super Bowl heat continues, chatting about the Dorito's commercial, the Bronco's big win, and the heated half-time show! Last night made today seem like a Sunday or Saturday. I always wondered (and still do wonder) why all big sports games and award shows have to be on Sunday? Then the next morning you wake up an hour late and realize "I have school/work today!" If this sounds familiar, that's because it probably happened to you this morning! Well this really summed up my day. What about you? Please comment and share what your days are like! Thanks for reading. Now awaits tomorrow's reading! Hello Carpe Diem readers! I am so excited to experiment with this exhilarating task of mine: an online journal! This experiment will last about a week so you will live in the life of a blogger, student, daughter, and creative soul. So please get reading and try this in a written or online journal too! Enjoy- Anna (Carpe Diem Editor)
Life is quite a journey and sometimes we don't realize it. The world is planning every second precisely because if one thing didn't happen, the next would be nonexistent. Sometimes I wish I could live in the moment, put my life on pause and just enjoy the natural beauty. What would life be like then? This thought occurred to me while typing this post. As the mall awaits, life is choosing this creativity, inspired path with great little treats scattered along the way. So what shall be waiting for me at the Cheesecake Factory? Of course, the answer is the creamy goodness of cream cheese blended with loads of sugar. That's what I'm talking about! So as I walk through the King of Prussia Mall, looking at display windows, chatting with my mom, waiting for that inspirational spark that brights my life up like a Thomas Edison light bulb, I enjoy life one baby step at a time. This spring break, my family and I are taking a trip to California, literally every place in the big city where dreams come true. To continue our shopping gals trip before the Super Bowl begins, my mom and I pick up a couple maps for our journey, magazines for the big game, and find a few good reads along the way. Still finding that last little bit of cream cheese in my mouth, I look ahead at the week and smile at the thought. Today was successful no matter what I take away from it. Well, let's wait until the Super Bowl, shall we? The moment that happens only once a year, battling territory, and happens in the "man cave" is also known as the Super Bowl! This half way milestone year means the world to Bronco and Panther fans. Personally I am voting for the Panthers, and I certainly hope they win because I have a bet with my grandpa for .25 cents. This would mean the world to me, like winning the Power Ball! So the big game arises and the heat is on. At this point in my writing, the Denver Bronco's are up 3, well they are really just winning 3-0. You might notice that I don't fancy the Super Bowl, but the outcome is a curious question the following Monday morning. I look at the two sides like they are battling in a boxing ring. There are two teams, two sides to their stories, and two different reasons why they are there. But that questions is constantly coming up, why are they there? I can't answer this questions, but really, just think about it for a second, a minute, or stew on it all day long. So I hope you enjoyed my first journal post and consider reading again soon! Now awaits tomorrow's issue!
Valentine's Day is a day of love. Families and couples get together and celebrate this happy day! During Christmas time I got a tree and I made some handmade decorations. I got that feeling that I always get around jolly holidays. I wanted to feel the same way for Valentine's Day. So today I made some handmade ornaments with my mom, got out our gold little Christmas tree, and decorated. And now when I look at that tree, I feel that good holiday feeling, and then I knew that that was a job well done!
What I love about this tree is the love and how it brings your family closer together! You don't a big tree to do this difficult task. The key is to make your tree special! Some unique quirks that I have learned in the past is to embellish your tree with things that are meaningful to you. If you have a dog, dog bones with a little heart in the middle could represent the love you have for your dog. O let's say that you have 5 people in your family. Well you draw and cut out a hand with different embellishments to represent what your family members like, such as a baseball cap or a red hair bow. This craft is good for little kids to help make some ornaments and decorations! I purchased my tree out in Wayne in mid January because stores were trying to get rid of holiday decorations. If you don't have a tree, then don't worry because you can use branches instead. Just go outside and find a couple of tree branches and decorate those. This craft is also great for this snowy weekend because you can stay inside and make some ornate ornaments! Below are some pictures of my tree fully decorated! ***Please add to your Carpe Diem list to make a Tree of Love! Los Angeles is the city of dreams; where dreams come trues. While you relax on Venice Beach, movie stars are rushing to make the most perfect movies for you to watch. LA consists of several humongous Television production Companies, speckled sandy beaches, and Pop-Stars frantically rushing around. I will be visiting Los Angeles in April over Spring Break. Then I will be able to tell you more. If you have visited California before, let alone LA, please let me know by commenting, contacting, and collaborating a blog!

Fall is not around the corner because it is already here! Can you believe it? I seriously cannot. This all means Halloween, candy, costumes, football season, pumpkins, and of course, TREES CHANGING COLORS. What it is about trees changing colors? Does it remind people that it is Fall? Wake up call? To me, when trees change colors, I look at them and just think how exceptionally pretty they are. All of the leaves stick together to form one perfect eye opener, conversation starter, bright light. Whatever you like to call it, it shows teamwork and personality. Everyone usually has one feature in nature that is heartwarming. Mine is this one big maple tree on Montgomery Avenue. My mom and I pass by it every day to school and each time we say, "Oh just look at how beautiful that tree is!" ***Your mission is to find your special nature spot and share with the world what that spot is and means to you.
